Baptism on the Feast of All Saints

Dear All Saints Family,

According to our prayer book, “Baptism should be administered as part of the Holy Eucharist on a Sunday or other Holy Day. The most appropriate days for Baptism are the Easter Vigil, the Baptism of Our Lord, Pentecost, and All Saints Day (or the Sunday after All Saints’ Day).”

On Sunday, November 2, we will be observing All Saints’ Day, which means we will also have the joy of celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Baptism. Here’s who should consider participating:

  • If you are already a follower of Jesus, but for whatever reason have never taken this step of Holy Baptism.
  • If you are seriously considering following Jesus, this might be a good opportunity to make this commitment.
  • If you are a Christian parent of an unbaptized child who plans to raise that child in the faith as a part of this church, you can present your child for Holy Baptism. Jesus says, “Let the little ones come to me!"

In Christian Baptism, a person is united with Jesus in his death and resurrection and adopted in his family, the Church. We call Baptism a Sacrament because it is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. Something spiritual is happening in the physical act of Baptism.

If you would like to receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on Sunday, November 2, or have your child receive Baptism, or if you simply have further questions about Baptism, please let me know. I would be delighted to get together and talk with you about it.

The Peace of Christ,

Fr. Wes
