Children's Ministries

The children of All Saints meet most Sunday Mornings from 10:15 am - 10:45 am for Children’s Church and from 11:30 am – 12:15 pm for Christian Formation. These events provide an opportunity for young boys and girls to praise God together, grow in their relationship with Christ, learn about the Bible, and engage in games and activities which are designed to foster Christian development. New faces are always welcome!

Children’s Church Sundays from 10:15 am – 10:45 am

Following the Children’s Message at our Sunday Eucharistic Service, children ages 3 - 8 are invited to leave the service and gather together for Children’s Church.  At Children’s Church, the children hear an age appropriate Bible story, sing songs together, and complete a craft related to the day’s story. Brian and Amanda Larsen Wells typically lead the Children’s Church program, though guest teachers and helpers are often invited to assist with the day’s activities.

Christian Formation Sundays from 11:30 am - 12:15 pm

Christian Formation is All Saints’ Discipleship/Sunday School Program.  Classes convene shortly after the close of the Sunday Eucharistic Service.  During this time, children ages 3 – 11 engage in Bible study, prayer, worship, games, and crafts, according to the lesson plan of their Christian Formation Leaders.  Snacks are provided for younger children.  Melinda Pearson, Celeste Pope, Beth Moore, and Sheila Kirkpatrick generally serve as the leaders of the Children’s Christian Formation Classes.

Nursery Sundays from 9:45 am – 12:15 am

Nursery Services are provided each Sunday from 9:45 am – 12:15 pm for children 3 years of age and younger.  Please contact the church for more information about this service.

Children’s Ministry and Family Activities

Throughout the year, our church hosts fun events designed to encourage family bonding and child development.  Most children’s events are designed for children ages 3 -11 and do not require the attendance of parents--that way Mom and Dad can have some quiet time together while the kids play at the church.  However, some events benefit from the presence of one or both parents, such as the Children’s Kite Day, the Fall Fun Festival, and the Easter Egg Hunt.

In addition to our children’s ministry events, we also host family events at the church, such as the Family Movie Night or the Family Memorial Day Cookout.  These events are designed to bring the whole church (parents, children, youth, grandparents, and family friends) together for fellowship.

To learn more about any of these special events, please see The Children’s Ministry Calendar link above (for upcoming events this month) or the 2012 CYC schedule below (for events happening throughout the year).  Please also feel free to contact the CYC ministers, Brian and Amanda Larsen Wells, with any questions that you may have about an upcoming event.

Parents and Adult Volunteers

The Children’s Ministry, like all ministries at All Saints, relies heavily on the dedication of its volunteers to ensure the success of its programs.  Our safe church policy requires that at least two adults be present at any event involving children under the age of 12.  However, for added supervision, we like to ensure that we have a ratio of at least 1 adult for every 5 children.  To meet this goal, we seek the aid of adult volunteers who are eager to connect with children and who would like to help them grow in the knowledge and love of Christ. Adult volunteers primarily serve as leaders of Christian Formation Classes and chaperones for special events, but they can also assist in behind-the-scenes roles like hospitality and administration.

If you are the parent of a young person or are an interested congregant 18 years-old or older, and you would like to know how you can be more involved in the Children’s Ministry at All Saints, please contact Brian or Amanda Larsen Wells.

A Message from the CYC Ministers, February 2012

Amanda and I would like to thank all of our students, children, parents, and fellow congregants for making our first few weeks back at All Saints such a joy!  It is wonderful to be back in Tennessee working with such an exceptional group of young people!

Sincerely,

Brian Larsen Wells
